Automated breast ultrasound (ABUS) is an FDA approved, supplementary screening exam designed for women with dense breasts.
Approximately 40% of women have dense breasts. Dense breast tissue is an independent risk factor for breast cancer. ABUS provides a different look at the breast tissue and helps radiologists find small breast cancers that can hide in the dense tissue.
